Mr.
Ruppert's Background
Mr. Ruppert has been teaching at McQuaid since 1997.
He has taught classes in Global Studies (9th grade) and
United States History (8th and 11th grade). Currently, he teaches five
sections of Middle Schoolers. In addition
to his teaching course load, Mr. Ruppert also serves as the McQuaid Varsity
Basketball Coach.

- Grew
up in the Washington D.C. area (Vienna,
Virginia
to be exact)
- Therefore,
as a history teacher, he strongly understands the "War of Northern
Aggression" perspective
- Second
in the State of Virginia in foul shooting accuracy as a 12 year old...still
looking for a rematch with the #1 guy!
- Attended
DeMatha Catholic
High School in Hyattsville, MD -- GO STAGS! -- playing for legendary Hall
of Fame Coach Morgan Wootten
- Mastered
driving on the infamous Washington D.C. Beltway (Rt. 495 on the NASCAR circuit)
by age 16 1/2
- Attended
Colgate University
in the thriving metropolis of Hamilton, NY...I loved it!...GO RED RAIDERS!
- Three
year Division I basketball letter winner
- Senior
captain
- Graduated
cum laude (1991)...earned special accolades for having
a GPA > PPG
- Completed
M.A.T. (Masters of Arts in Teaching) program also in "Red Raiderland"
(1993)
- Taught
at The High School (Rathgar, Dublin, Ireland) for a semester as my wife
took gradute coursework...speaking of...
- Married
his wonderful wife Kathleen
in 1994 (also a Red Raider class of 1993!)...family on a 3/2 reunion plan...Kathy
is also a teacher, instructing students and training new teachers
for The Princeton Review... she's mastered every test known to mankind...SAT,
LSAT, etc....by the way, that's Dr. Ruppert (Ph.D. in British History from
Catholic University of America)
- The
Ruppert's have three children: Kevin
(10), Aidan (8), and "wee" Shannon (5)...all
three are home schooled by "Dr. Mom"
- Parishoners
at St Margaret Mary's
in Irondequoit
- Mr.
Ruppert's hobbies include being forgetful (which really makes teaching history
challenging sometimes!), being a technophile (owning multiple MP3 players
and assorted other technological gizmos), and still lacing the Nike Airs up
on occasion for Gus Macker 3-on-3 basketball tournaments around the east
coast (student's frequently want to know about the coveted Toilet
Bowl Trophy...) And finally, Mr. Ruppert
really appreciates a well constructed Garbage
Plate, even creating his own unique home cooked
variety on occasion...particularly when his beloved Washington
Redskins (hail Joe Gibbs) are playing.
